Torbé

Torbé is an Acadian community located on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia, in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough. The Société acadienne de Torbé plays a central role in promoting the French language, Acadian culture, and community life by offering cultural, social, and intergenerational programming throughout the year. The region also benefits from École Belle-Baie, the first Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP) school in the area, which opened in 2023. It provides French-language education to the youth of Torbé and actively contributes to the transmission of the Acadian language, culture, and identity.

Throughout the year, the community comes together for numerous social, cultural, and recreational activities. The Festival de la Salvette, the region's flagship event, showcases maritime heritage, Acadian traditions, music, gastronomy, and local expertise. This festival brings the community together and reflects the dynamism, pride, and warm hospitality that characterize Torbé.
